A Perfect Mother’s Day Out: New U-Pick Tulip Farm With Free Admission and Kid Friendly Snacks

It’s winter, It’s been cold and the kids have been cooped up inside. It’s been a party alright. Finally, spring has arrived, temperatures have risen and these cute little guys need to get outside, run around and play and defuse some of that energy!

You too might need a little fresh air and maybe, a breather.

Well, we have a place for you. ‘Tulipville’ u-pick tulips at Hemingway Hill in Terrell, Texas, just a short drive from Forney and Dallas, opening Thursday, February 27th at 10:00 am. Free admission.

Hemingway Hill planted over 40,000 tulips, in 30- inch rows, with kids in mind. Kids can roam freely, as you take a moment to pick regeneratively (i.e. no chemicals) grown tulips and snap beautiful pictures of your kids having fun in the tulip fields. The farm will have kid friendly snacks for purchase and free stickers for your kiddos.

Speaking of photography, do you have a photographer who you’ll want to come with you to take pictures of your kids or are you a professional photographer looking for a new place to shoot? All during tulip season, professional photographers can shoot all day for just a 25 dollar p/day fee, must show proof of commercial insurance at the gate (no exceptions), sign a waiver,  clients can come for free and no reservation required.

Hemingway Hill is privately owned and operated farm in Terrell, Texas that opens its gates to the public three times a year – u-pick tulips from the end of February until third weekend in March, u-pick flowers and sunflower field experience, Mothers Day weekend until July 4th and an old fashioned Christmas tree experience with free s’mores around the fire pit, the weekend prior to Thanksgiving to mid December. How to plan your trip to Hemingway’s Tulipville U-Pick Tulip

🌷 Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting a little dirt on, we will give you free paper car mats for your car for the ride home

🌷 What happens if it is raining? we are open rain or shine, the tulips don’t mind the rain. If it  rains, the donut machine does mind the rain. We won’t have apple cider donuts as they are made outside. Assuming it’s  not raining, we have warm apple cider donuts Saturday and Sundays during tulip season.

🌷 How much do the tulips cost? The cost of tulips is $2.50 a stem and there will not be an admission fee this year. You have an opportunity to order tulip bulbs at the farm.

🌷 How do you take payments? We take payments by credit card via Square and cash.

🌷 What are guidelines for professional photographers who want to come? Professional  photographers must show their current insurance card at the gate, sign a waiver, have their clients sign a waiver and pay a 25 dollar p/day shoot fee. No reservation required.

🌷 Can I bring my dogs and or my drone? Nope and No exceptions. We love them both but, for safety reasons, we ask that you leave them at home and come and have fun picking tulips!

🌷 Do you have restrooms? We have some porta potties to offer with future plans to build a public bathroom

🌷 Do I need to bring anything to pick the tulips? Tulips you can pick by hand and shears are not needed. We will provide you a vintage bucket to use to put the tulips in while you pick and we will package them for you for the car ride home.  We will ask you to sign a short waiver before entering our fields.
